How to Place and Cancel a Spot Limit Order

Set the output-per-input price, understand reserved funds and track partial fills.

Updated 27 October 2026

Spot limits are separate from Perps orders

On Solana, the Limit tab in Swap creates a Jupiter spot trigger order. The EVM workflow is described separately below. It exchanges wallet assets when its conditions and available execution permit. It does not open leveraged exposure. For perpetual limits, use the Perps guide.

Place a Solana limit order

  1. Select Limit. Open Swap, choose Limit and check the From and To tokens.
  2. Enter the quantity. Set Amount (From) in units of the token being sold. Confirm that the selected wallet has the input asset and SOL for costs.
  3. Set the price in the displayed units. Limit Price (To per 1 From) expresses output-token units for one input token. The shown condition is Execute when price ≥ limit. Recheck the units after flipping the pair.
  4. Choose expiry if needed. The optional expiry field is in minutes. Read the resulting expiry in the order review. A distant expiry does not make execution more certain.
  5. Review and create. Use Place Limit. Review the exact input quantity, output requirement, fees and expiry. If a separate setup transaction is requested, review that cost independently. Approve the order transaction in the wallet.
  6. Track the order. Use Active, History and Refresh in the orders area. Check remaining size and fills; creation or a trigger condition does not prove the order fully executed.

Example of the price field

For From SOL and To USDC, a price of 120 means 120 USDC per SOL. With 0.5 SOL, the simple price-times-quantity figure is 60 USDC before applicable fees and execution details. This is only a units example, not a current price or suggested order.

Cancel and confirm release

Select the intended order’s cancellation action, or carefully review Cancel displayed for the set shown. Cancellation requires a wallet-approved on-chain transaction. An order can fill before cancellation confirms. Refresh Active and History, then check the wallet and order state before treating input funds as available.

Common reasons an order stays open

The executable route may not meet your limit, liquidity may be insufficient, only part may fill, or the order may have expired. The chart touching your limit is not proof that your exact order could fill. Read the order’s own state and remaining amount.

EVM limit orders

On supported EVM markets, select Limit in the same swap ticket, choose exact tokens, enter the sell amount, minimum receive-token price per sell token and expiry, then review. Native assets use their wrapped form. Review wrapping or allowance transactions separately before signing the order. Open orders and History show the provider’s current result; a signed order is not a fill.

EVM limit orders add no Bitpont fee in this release. Keep the required sell-token balance and allowance available until the order fills or expires. Cancellation and fills can race, so check the final order status before treating funds as available. Solana and EVM order mechanisms and funding requirements differ; do not apply Solana reserved-funds behavior to an EVM allowance-based order.
