Spot Swaps vs Perpetual Futures on Solana
Choose between receiving tokens and taking contract exposure.
Updated 18 October 2026
What a spot swap changes
A swap spends one wallet asset and receives another. You can hold or transfer the received token. There is no perpetual funding payment or leveraged margin account in this spot ticket.
What a perpetual changes
A perpetual creates long or short exposure in a protocol account. It has margin requirements, liquidation risk and funding. Closing the contract is a separate action from withdrawing collateral.
The same symbol is not the same product
SOL in a wallet can pay network fees. SOL-PERP cannot. BTC-PERP is not Bitcoin that can be sent to a Bitcoin address. Match the product to the asset or exposure you actually need.
Bitpont’s two workflows
Spot swaps use Jupiter routing. Perpetual contracts use Velocity and this interface’s USDT collateral workflow. A successful spot swap does not automatically deposit into the perpetual account.
