Long and Short Crypto Perps on Solana
Direction describes price exposure. It does not describe a transfer of the underlying BTC, ETH or SOL token into your wallet.

What a long position represents
A long perpetual position gains from an increase in the contract price and loses from a decrease, before funding, execution fees and other costs. The quantity is measured in the contract base units shown in the ticket. This is different from buying and holding a spot token.
What a short position represents
A short perpetual position has the opposite directional exposure: a lower contract price benefits the position, while a higher price hurts it, before costs. The position is maintained through protocol margin. It does not require the Bitpont spot interface to borrow or sell the underlying wallet token.
Separate contract asset from settlement network
BTC-PERP on Bitpont is Bitcoin price exposure executed through the configured protocol on Solana. It is not a Bitcoin-network transfer. ETH-PERP likewise does not move ETH on Ethereum. Check the contract symbol, Solana wallet and USDT account collateral as three separate parts of the trade.
Review size before submitting
Notional exposure is quantity multiplied by price. The sizing multiplier in the ticket affects the quantity calculation; it does not create isolated margin or guarantee a specific liquidation price. Check the selected side, minimum quantity, price tolerance and current account exposure in the review.
Close exposure without accidentally reversing it
Use the position row to reduce or close and review the opposite side and reduce-only setting. A normal opposite-side order can offset a position or open exposure in the other direction if its size exceeds the existing position. After submission, inspect positions and open orders to distinguish confirmation from an actual fill.
